Projects In Development
LOCATION
PROJECT DETAILS
The project is anticipated to comprise between 5-7 turbines and have a maximum total capacity of 25MW with tip heights of up to 200m. It will connect into the 33kV network at Lampeter Substation. The site is in a Pre-Assessed Area identified by Welsh Government as being suitable for large scale onshore development.ย Further details of this nationwide assessment can be found at: Future Wales: The National Plan 2040.
The project is still at an early stage of development with feasibility works and surveys underway.ย This page will be updated with more information as the project progresses.ย
COMMUNITY CONSULTATION
At Belltown we believe early consultation with local communities and stakeholders is key to good and transparent project development. We are committed to running a comprehensive and robust engagement process and will ensure local communities and stakeholders are given the opportunity to provide feedback and are kept informed of the projectโs progress.ย
Once weโve completed our initial surveys of the site and further developed the proposal, we will hold public consultation events for you to provide your thoughts and feedback to help us refine the project. We will also engage with Community Councils and stakeholders local to the project itself and the proposed access route, when appropriate.ย
Should you have any questions at this early stage, we ask that they please be addressed to the project team, with your contact details included so that we can respond personally to your enquiry.ย
You can contact the project team directly by emailing: waunmaenllwyd@belltownpower.com or filling out an enquiry form here.
We look forward to engaging with you in due course.
COMMUNITY BENEFIT AND OWNERSHIP
Belltown Power fundamentally believes that onshore wind projects should benefit the communities that host them, regardless of whether the project is subsidised or not. Communities local to The Waun Maenllwyd Wind Energy Hub will benefit through our ground-breaking community ownership scheme:
โข Offering local community organisations 1% of the equity in the project for free.
โข Enabling them to buy a further 4% of the equity at cost once the project is operational and potentially more at market value, if desired.ย
We also commit to providing ยฃ5,000 per MW per annum (index linked) of Community Benefit. We want to hear your views on how The Waun Maenllwyd Wind Energy Hub can best support your community.

EDUCATION AND ENVIRONMENT
At Belltown, we enjoy engaging with local schools with a view to offering visits to the project once operational if possible, as well as the other educational activities and resources provided through The Belltown Education Programme. As with all of our projects, we will be ensuring that the Waun Maenllwyd Wind Farm delivers a net ecological benefit through careful habitat design, habitat creation and habitat management
