LOCATION

The Shepham Wind Farm is site located off the B2104, near Polegate in East Sussex.

KEY DATES

Construction began in 2015 and was the site was fully commissioned by November 2016.

COMMUNITY

We want to have the best possible impact on the lives of local people through the provision of community funding and thoughtful interaction with local communities. In the summer of 2017, the then Mayor of Polegate visited the Wind Farm with the goal of connecting the community to the project. She commented:

My visit to Shepham wind turbines was fascinating. The skilful siting and construction of them clearly illustrates modern engineering at its best providing much valued and needed renewable energy.” – Angela Snell

EDUCATION

The Shepham Wind Farm is part of The Belltown Education Programme which provides an annual visit and renewables workshop for the children from Stone Cross Primary School. The sessions are designed to help children familiarise themselves with the technology and understand the impacts of climate change and how important renewable energy is in modern day society. Through this programme we aim to Inspire a future generation of children that are passionate about renewables and careers in engineering.

ENVIRONMENT

Shepham Wind Farm was carefully designed and constructed to minimise impacting the environmentally sensitive, seasonal habitats on site, and ensuring the protection of local wildlife. The site has a large area of wildflowers which attracts bees and other insects.
