COMMUNITY
We are continuing to support communities and projects local to Park Farm. This includes the provision of a new climbing frame at Packington Church of England Primary School and helping The Packington Communications Group with the funding towards the production of a village welcome pack, which is presented personally to each new arrival to the village.
EDUCATION
Park Farm is part of The Belltown Education Programme which provides an annual visit and renewables workshop for the children from Packington School, St Charles School and Measham School. The sessions are designed to help children familiarise themselves with the technology and understand the impacts of climate change. Through this programme we aim to Inspire a future generation of children that are passionate about renewables and a career in engineering.
ENVIRONMENT
An environmental management scheme has been implemented to help enhance the habitat for many species of birds and invertebrates, aiming to result in a net positive impact on local biodiversity. Each year surveys of the site’s birds, invertebrates and native plants are undertaken; these records are subsequently used to review and optimise the habitat management plan for future years. At Park Farm we have created a wildflower meadow beside the park to provide habitats for many species, including small mammals and invertebrates. We have also planted new native hedgerows and trees to provide screening, shelter, and habitats for a variety of wildlife and plant species and have installed bird and bat boxes to increase nesting/roosting opportunities.
