JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT MANAGER - Belltown Power UK

Timing: Starting ASAP or summer 2024; applications by 12th April.
Location: Bristol or London office

ROLE DESCRIPTION:
Working with the rest of the Belltown Power UK team to develop utility-scale wind farms, solar parks and hydrogen projects in the UK that help tackle the climate emergency, add to local biodiversity, and support local communities, schools, and economies. Including:

Site identification through constraints and grid availability mapping, using a GIS system
Engagement with and management of stakeholders e.g., landowners, grid network operators, planning consultees, communities, etc.
Contracting and managing specialist consultants
Managing the compilation of grid and planning applications
Site visits and inspections
Solving development issues as they arise
Contributing to the development of site identification, review, and design tools
Supporting the wider team as required

This role offers broad, direct experience across all aspects of renewable energy generation development.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
Belltown is looking for self-motivated and proactive individuals to join our highly capable, welcoming and dynamic UK development team.

Any prior experience in renewables, GIS mapping and/or basic computer programming would be advantageous, but is certainly not a requirement. Belltown recruits for potential over experience.

The ideal candidate would be:

Smart and good at solving problems as they arise;
Well-organised and a good project manager;
Collaborative, flexible and supportive of the rest of team;
Self-motivated, committed to performing well and eager to develop.

Applicants must either hold or be completing this year an undergraduate degree (in any subject) and have a predicted or final grade of at least a UK 2:1 or equivalent.

Belltown Power UK is a leading renewable energy company that develops, builds and operates quality renewable energy power plants. It is part of Belltown Group, founded in the UK in 2013 and which has grown rapidly to have operations in UK and US renewable energy as well as sustainable agriculture. Belltown UK has team of 25 with offices in Bristol and London. Hayley Muir

Portfolio Manager

I joined Belltown back in March 2014 shortly before the company’s first solar and wind projects became operational. I had just graduated from the University of Bristol and was keen to get involved in a small, ambitious enterprise with similar ethics to my own. Working for such a dynamic company has given me the opportunity to explore and contribute towards different areas of the business, and get a fantastic overview of the renewables industry as a whole. I started out assisting the operations team, before taking on my own projects as an Asset Manager, and I now oversee the operation and optimization of a portfolio of wind, solar and hydro projects in my role as a Portfolio Manager. Belltown places great emphasis on creating an enjoyable and productive working environment and is genuinely committed to employee development.

Peter Thomas

Techincal Director

I joined Belltown from a renewable consultancy in 2014 soon after the business was started. I was attracted by the vision of the founders and I was immediately utilized to manage the construction of the first project. I have since been a part of the growing Belltown team and overseen the construction of all the renewable assets within the portfolio. I am now part of the new Belltown development venture where I can utilize the knowledge gained from construction into new development opportunities.

Belltown remains an exciting, friendly, and ambitious company that recognizes the importance of treating its staff well. In addition, Belltown has allowed me to adjust my work hours to better manage my time around family commitments. I continue to be impressed with the achievements of the company in parallel with the great social environment generated by its staff.

Nhung Tran

Senior Finance Manager

I joined Belltown in 2016 as the junior member of a finance team of three. After working for a big company, I was looking for an opportunity where I had more challenge, responsibility and could progress quickly. Being part of a small team allowed me to learn directly from the finance director and work closely with senior management, which had a huge positive impact on my career progression. The finance team also supported me through my chartered accountant training, whilst providing me as much exposure as possible to relevant experience. At first, I was taken to meetings to listen and learn, and by now I am trusted to deliver the financial services for all our UK investor portfolios. Belltown did not just provide me a great environment to progress in my career but also cares about its employee’s satisfaction and wellbeing. The company organized countless socials and knowledge share sessions. I tried many new sports, such as surfing, mountain biking, skiing, archery, traveled to many beautiful places both in the UK and abroad, and learned some of the basics of engineering and company law. Belltown is very flexible with its employees regarding remote working, which allowed me to see my family back in Budapest (Hungary) on a regular basis, and therefore have a healthy work-life balance. It is rare to find a company that cares about career progression and both the physical and mental health of its employees. Therefore, I feel grateful to be part of the Belltown team.

Senior Development Manager

I first joined Belltown as an investment and transaction intern in 2014 and was immediately taken by how friendly, welcoming, and exceptional the folks at Belltown are. This made the decision to return to Belltown following a couple of years at a large consultancy an easy and instinctive decision and since then I haven’t looked back. I initially joined full-time as an Associate working with the transaction team and, despite having very little financial or transactional experience, was given a load of responsibility, which has increased in line with my experience over the years.

Belltown has continuously provided training both internal and external where I’ve requested it and has always made me feel that my development is important to the company's development – which I know is an experience shared by many here. What is probably most important to me is that I feel Belltown trusts me and my abilities, which was reflected when I moved to our onshore wind development team despite not having a technical background.
